@cidney Perhaps VP Ice is when they can't handle the load and are running very slowly.
I'm _mostly_ just being silly. But there is a kernel of truth in the silliness: one big thing that has surprised me about living abroad is not the fact that my intuitions about English have shifted (that was a given), but that they've shifted in favor of _more_ nonconcatenative forms.
(And it's not just me; I know a Dutch person who has experienced the same thing.)
What's the non-concatenative plural of _VPS_?
Like, man/men, goose/geese, but VPS/???.
Could it be "VP Ice"? _VPSes_ just doesn't sound right.
(In before an Arabic linguist suggests _aVPāS_ or _VuPūS_.)
Because I don't know what's good for me, I started setting up a self-hosted single-user Mastodon instance tonight.
I'm not ready to migrate yet, but expect that in a day or two.
@gershom I use MetaText. It does have all the features, although there are one or two drawbacks (mostly, I can’t get the red notifications circle to show up on the icon).
There’s another one I’ve heard recommended, but I forget the name.
