I don't really do gender. Trans as in transhumanist and transatlantic.
I'm "kechpaja" pretty much anywhere you see that username.

Our header picture is a recording of @clairenance 's cat meowing, and then filtered to resemble meows on Mars. We used this nice tool from NASA to filter the meow to resemble Martian atmosphere https://mars.nasa.gov/mars2020/participate/sounds/ #catsofmastodon #phonetics
Sounds of Mars - NASA

This web experience lets you hear what a person might sound like on the Red Planet. You can also hear sounds captured by NASA’s Mars Perseverance rover.

@cidney Perhaps VP Ice is when they can't handle the load and are running very slowly.

I'm _mostly_ just being silly. But there is a kernel of truth in the silliness: one big thing that has surprised me about living abroad is not the fact that my intuitions about English have shifted (that was a given), but that they've shifted in favor of _more_ nonconcatenative forms.

(And it's not just me; I know a Dutch person who has experienced the same thing.)

After all, my hart is a fish.
Did you know:
If you've stopped wearing masks, you can simply start wearing masks again
@coopdot It’s far too easy to go down this rabbit hole when designing a type system (or, for that matter, a conlang grammatical system).

What's the non-concatenative plural of _VPS_?

Like, man/men, goose/geese, but VPS/???.

Could it be "VP Ice"? _VPSes_ just doesn't sound right.

(In before an Arabic linguist suggests _aVPāS_ or _VuPūS_.)

@vylion I'll try and keep you (and everyone else) up to date! So far, I can say that setting up the VPS and all has gone relatively smoothly, although there were a handful of issues that required manually editing various configuration files.
@cidney I got a VPS and installed everything, and it seems to work. The most annoying bug ended up being a simple directory permissions issue, although I also had to do some messing around with nginx configuration.

Because I don't know what's good for me, I started setting up a self-hosted single-user Mastodon instance tonight.

I'm not ready to migrate yet, but expect that in a day or two.

@gershom I use MetaText. It does have all the features, although there are one or two drawbacks (mostly, I can’t get the red notifications circle to show up on the icon).

There’s another one I’ve heard recommended, but I forget the name.
