It took every fiber of my soul not to file this #Firefox translation bug as "Clutching clutching clutching clutching".

The image is a cropped section, in the real page it adds clutching or similar words 100s of times to the page.

now thats what I call abuse of the qr code format

If you rely on assistive technologies (TTS, Braille display, enlarged fonts), what would be your preferred terminal output from a compiler or other CLI tool telling you where an error occurred?
If you'd prefer a different option, please elaborate.

😲 👀 … Judge Leal in #SFC's landmark impact litigation against #Vizio (regarding their violations of #GPLv2 & #LGPLv2_1) is leaning toward partially granting our motion for summary adjudication.

Such motions are difficult to win, so this is amazing.

Her decision is tentative; join the hearing today (details in linked post) to hear the oral arguments in real time.

I'll live updates of the hearing in this thread.

Judge Issues Tentative Ruling in Favor of SFC

Today, in the Superior Court of California in Orange County, Judge Sandy N. Leal will consider Software Freedom Conservancy's motion for summary adjudication in the Vizio case. The tentative ruling, issued this morning, rules in favor of SFC that Vizio has a duty to provide SFC with the complete and corresponding copylefted source code to the TV it purchased. Tentative rulings are not final; they are issued by the court to indicate how the judge is leaning on the issue, so that oral arguments at the hearing are most effective. The hearing on this issue will take place today, at 10am Pacific time. Information on how to attend is below.

Wang et al 2025: "Incentives and Outcomes in Bug Bounties" https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.16655 Looks at the impact of Google increasing bug bounties in July 2024, and finds that it increased the volume of high-value bug received and "both redirected the attention of veteran researchers and attracted new top security researchers". #nwit
Incentives and Outcomes in Bug Bounties

Bug bounty programs have contributed significantly to security in technology firms in the last decade, but little is known about the role of reward incentives in producing useful outcomes. We analyze incentives and outcomes in Google's Vulnerability Rewards Program (VRP), one of the world's largest bug bounty programs. We analyze the responsiveness of the quality and quantity of bugs received to changes in payments, focusing on a change in Google's reward amounts posted in July, 2024, in which reward amounts increased by up to 200% for the highest impact tier. Our empirical results show an increase in the volume of high-value bugs received after the reward increase, for which we also compute elasticities. We further break down the sources of this increase between veteran researchers and new researchers, showing that the reward increase both redirected the attention of veteran researchers and attracted new top security researchers into the program.
