A thought that occurred to me early in reading this take-down of NASA's Orion capsule is that NASA is now 67 years old, and we shaved apes are *terrible* at building institutions that function for more than an average human life expectancy, on the order of 70-80 years.

Even before Trump, NASA was probably likely to wither and die before 2050. Now I think it'll be lucky it make it to 2030.

The idea that machines will be as smart as—or smarter than—humans has hijacked an entire industry. But look closely & you’ll see it’s a myth that persists for many of the same reasons conspiracies do.

* The Ultimatum Queer Love (Season Two) - One of our reality TV guilty pleasures, and I'll just say that the Queer Love seasons are just flat-out better at delivering messy drama than the straight couples, who mostly panic for a couple of nights and then just go running back to their original partners and, what's worse, are boring as they do it.

...utterly violate Show Don't Tell. It's bad, and if The Bear doesn't get renewed it's not a great final note to end on; episode nine ("Tonnato") would have been a better series finale.

I realize that the shouting, messy chaos is a callback to how the show made its mark in the first season with those traumatizing scenes in The Beef. But are you trying to say that none of these characters have really moved beyond that terrible point, or that this is their intrinsic nature that they will...4/x

a little too...luxurious in its pacing sometimes. But it does something I love, which is asking very pointed specific questions and then using the medium to try and explore and answer them.

So you get nine episodes of pretty good stuff, and then a tenth episode ("Tomorrow") which is just...a trainwreck. It's one thirty minute scene, consisting of roughly ten minutes of people shouting at each other and then twenty minutes of clumsy emotional outpourings which completely and...3/x
