Upgraded the server to Ubuntu 26.04, and from what I remember, it's the first time that VMware Workstation worked out of the box – no kernel module update errors, etc.
As usual the OS upgrade went without a hitch

update - Windows, Linux and MacOS are working fine with the Caldigit TS4. DisplayPort issues that I was seeing with Linux went away after running fwupdmgr, though I wish I could tell what I did exactly to get it working.
waking the pc up from sleep causes the dp to only see 60hz on the monitor connected from the dock. Replugging the DisplayPort sets everything back properly
After a lot of scientific unplugging/plugging back in, rebooting and authorization, the USB4 port on a Beelink does output video via the caldigit TS4s DisplayPort. You can get a dual display setup using the HDMI port on the beelink and the DisplayPort on the dock
