Saw this today and thought "Mastodon/Eugen, your goal is noble & your heart is in the right place, but Mastodon is the nerd circles. That's why all the tech folks moved to ActivityPub back in November 2022. That why folks like me think about spinning up their own instance."

Like, to make sure any of these places or their underlying technologies take off requires admitting who is already embracing it and why, and then thinking on if that's the desired outcome or not.

So, my new Nerdcore Hiphop or really Hyperpop Drill album is already out for my Bandcamp subscribers. It's laden of overthinking the impacts of LLMs and ML through my regular otaku perspective amongst other things. Really, I might be have more fun pushing the production aesthetic into uncomfortable pockets than solidly sticking to a thesis or over-working my delivery to flavorlessness. So, I joined bluesky after grousing for an invite on twitter, and yeah, it's basically broken twitter mixed with broken mastodon. At least I kiss of death'd it by joining it early, as typically any website I early adopt bites the dust, from mp3 dot com to ello to canvas to all of Google's attempts, nothing says "this will never be a thing" than my presence in its early days. I even verified my website to get the handle.
