I first used BSD 4.3 at UC Berkeley in 1986, and have been dabbling at various levels ever since.

Mostly OpenBSD now, but I have (old!) Thinkpads running both FreeBSD and NetBSD.

PLEASE BOOST.

I have a small request, Fediverse. Yes, it's silly, but I could really use a little boost with all that's going on lately in the world, so:
Can we get my follower count up to 666? Please? Indulge this silly goth girl, won't you, and make my weekend?💜

#please #prettyplease #gothgirl #silliness #whimsy #smalljoys #boost

Boost if you want to see AI data centers burned to the ground or if you enjoy tacos. 🔥 🌮

An important message in these trying times.

Good night everyone. Please carry on without me and remember to be kind and be excellent to one another. You never know what pain others have been through, and kindness costs almost nothing, and means everything these days.

I'll see you all tomorrow.

je condamne dans les termes les plus forts les actions des États-Unis contre l'Iran

pour les pouvoirs du monde, c'est maintenant ou jamais, empêchez la machine de guerre américaine, ou vous serez les prochains

@smolbrain @electricmood well, it turns out that I thought I loved computers but actually I love people
(This is probably going to become a blog post at some point; I wrote it off-the-cuff and didn't really think about where to put it. It could use a bit of formatting and organizing, but I think the core of it is sound. I'll edit the post when I find a semi-permanent home for it.)
This is how I approach the work: Listen to Black folks who are still here. Don't try to guide those conversations; don't assume you have something to contribute to every conversation. Fight the urge to get defensive; ask clarifying questions where you feel you must but don't derail. Internalize that building/rebuilding trust is not instantaneous. Boost gofundme's and mutual aid for Black folks; contribute as much as you are able. Don't assume you're the expert here, but don't indulge in learned helplessness, either -- resist at all costs the urge to throw up your hands and say "I didn't personally cause this; I'm not responsible for it." When in doubt, ask whether a course of action you are contemplating is useful. These are starting points; I'm sure that people will be happy to chime in with more suggestions.
computers used to be fun and now five guys in silicon valley get paid forty trillion dollars every year to make them fucking suck
