rain 🌦️Got unreasonably excited about this new, incredibly straightforward count-distinct algorithm. The CVM algorithm is a direct replacement for HyperLogLog, it nerd-sniped Donald Knuth for weeks, *and* it can easily be taught in an entry-level CS course.

@chockenberry Thanks, that all makes sense to me. I would argue that the act of marking an item in the moment requires less thought than trying to figure out *why* you marked it at some time in the future, but I get your point.
Would it help to rephrase this as a request for *tags* or *labels*? It’s pretty much the same thing, in terms of the functionality I’m looking for. (The current system of “marking” a post essentially allows you to add a single generic, unnamed tag/label to any post.)
