I just recommended an interesting article @pcirr by @maddi_pow, @drcpennington, @kaitclark, and colleagues. It started out as a #RegisteredReport 2 years ago and it is exciting to find out the results!

Incorporating #OpenResearch practices (preregistration) into the #undergraduate #curriculum increases understanding, but doesn't change attitudes toward questionable research practices (QRPs)

My recommendation and the review history: https://doi.org/10.24072/pci.rr.100437

Is it OK to spend 12 months to get a visa to attend a 3-day conference?

My piece in Science (@sciencemagazine) sheds light on this issue many scholars from institutionally discriminated countries experience on a regular basis

Spoiler: 12 months, 900$, get rejected

Visa bureaucracy makes scientific conferences inaccessible for too many researchers

“To truly foster inclusivity, meetings must be hosted in more open countries,” this researcher writes

I am so, so bored of the default small talk about America that people (in the UK) initiate with me upon hearing my accent. I can’t ride a taxi or chat with someone in a shop without being asked about America. After 8.5 years in the UK, I’m just so tired of the same repetitive conversations. I know people are well-intentioned, but please consider how boring it must be for an immigrant to be constantly asked about their home country. 😩

4 lectureships in #neuroscience in Bristol, UK. (2 junior, 2 senior).

Offers £39,745 - £68,823. (Not a typo, unfortunately.)

Not wanting to single out Bristol here, note all UK universities offer these ridiculously low salaries. The expectation, I can only guess, is that your partner with a higher salary subsidises the university via the institution of marriage, or you are independently wealthy, or choose not to have a family.

Five hundred men sacked for refusing to ever cross a picket line
The voices down the ages warning "never cross a picket line"
You must never cross a picket line
Two years gone by but still they never ever cross a picket line
With their wives and children they stand together, never cross a picket line
