If a computer isn’t running windows it doesn’t mean it’s broken

about a year ago i wrote a ZMK setup for a fully custom keyboard with an optical sensor, and it took me about 2 months to get it right.

today i needed to do the same for another similar keyboard, and i have LLMed the fuck out of it in two hours with claude code. fucker even digested my kicad files to get pinouts right

One of the more annoying things about degrading eye sight with age is that it gets more and more difficult to type of phone keyboard
tl;dr is I can’t afford kawai novus hybrid, so I want to build my own from scratch on a cheap ;)

Bought a new project yesterday. It’s a bit beaten up and tired and the sound engine is garbage, but it has a keyboard designed by actual bechstein piano engineers with full grand piano size key sticks and rather convincing action

So I’m going to service the keyboard and then rip out its brains and audio system and build something better from scratch

Probably repaint it too in the process into something more obnoxious

Both sides are wired now. I’ll cut and fit the gasket mount next, and it’s all about firmware after that

A keen observer might notice that there’s only one pair of keyboards and tl;td is that wiring this version was a miserable experience and I don’t want to release it like that. I’ll verify that the electronics work and then redesign the wiring to a FPC #keyboard #keyboards #electronics

@RueNahcMohr oh i thought you said you have finished it already, couldn't tell from the pic, but i think it's such a neat idea, lots of people would probably pay money for one of those
what's interesting is that it seems like large investors are pricing in AI infra capex as a liability at the moment. right after then NVDIA announcement. I'm wondering what's the thinking there
@RueNahcMohr that’s pretty amazing actually
It’s wild how quickly anthropic is closing the gap with openclaw at this point. The integration with Obsidian vault is just amazing, and you can run Opus with 1M context to manage your tasks, something you could never do self hosted
One half is done, getting pretty close to figuring whether it’ll fly #keyboard #electronics
