For “green” copper etc, US wilderness is now on the auction block to billionaires so they can build out the new power grid they need for their data centers.

American wilderness is being opened up to billionaires and big mining. The extracted ore gets shipped to China for refinement and processing.

Mining operations are remotely operated now. So not even the community will see much benefit.
