Today marks the 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing. I never liked the "Tank man" image too much. It implies that the students had a chance and that there was some leniency. The tank in that picture not only rolled over students but also over unarmed local police and military who were initially called in to contain the protests but were not considered "trustworthy" enough to clear the square with violence. June 4th is still difficult for my wife each year. She was a student at Beijing University at the time and, while not on the square itself, was exposed to much of the aftermath.
I want to acknowledge the real heroes of hurricane disaster preparedness: Developers asked to implement these tax holiday rules in their business systems.
