To all of you joining us from the bird site...

Please take your time. Breathe for a moment. This is not the place you just left. Acclimatize yourself. Ask questions. Heck, ask me questions. Please, take a moment to watch, read, and process the new environment.

You've made it this far. We are here to help.

Water covers three-quarters of the Earth’s surface and was crucial for the emergence of life, but its origins have remained a subject of active debate among scientists.

The collapse of Twitter for (basically) self-inflicted reasons makes a strong case for building online infrastructure structured as a non-profit or public utility.

People rely on these platforms for public information, use them for democratic debate and many invest their livelihoods in them.

These platforms are too important to public safety, peoples’ livelihoods and democracy to leave in the hands of eccentric billionaires or the whims of stock markets.

Good evening, Twitter was a 16 year sociological study conducted by Harvard University. We are now complete with our study. Thank you for your time.
Those who could not imagine that twitter would actually break down, first slowly then quickly, are the same who cannot imagine that the climate catastrophe will actually happen, first slowly then quickly. And here is no Earth 2, not even a Mastodon world, to escape to.

The charge sheet against Brexit’s guilty men just keeps growing.

This new post on my Brexit Blog looks at how the budget, UKCA & trade deals + the dither, uncertainty & lack of realism or strategy across multiple sectors = failure of Brexit and of what's being done with it, and then discusses the "guilty men" who are responsible:
