This afternoon they tore out my front walkway, the bottom of my driveway, and some sidewalk. And the city has yet to pour concrete for the street repair.
I intentionally let the bananas over-ripen so I could make banana bread.
A friend posted this on The Other Place. I don't know if it's original to him.

Home from Thanksgiving at Mom's. Glad I went early and that traffic was light, though; the bird was ready 40 minutes earlier than planned.

Menu: Shrimp cocktail, turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauces, candied yams, pumpkin custard, and ice cream.

Ouch: Managed to give myself a mild second-degree burn while cooking dinner last night. I got the back of my ring finger and pinky, and the heel of the palm by my thumb. A quick trip to urgent care later and it's all slathered in ointment and bandaged.

(The fingers were mild enough they're no longer bandaged 12 hours later.)

Erev Rosh Ha'Shannah dinner at Mom's tonight. My share of the leftovers included about 3 meals' worth of brisket, gravy, potatoes, and carrots, plus two jars of matzoh ball soup and about 1/3 of a pecan pie.

She did have some really weird tomatoes on her counter, though.

After the dishwasher cycle it beeped which could indicate a drainage problem so I looked under the sink... and there's standing water, apparently from the drain. I dried everything off, lay down some paper towels, ran the hot water, and sure enough: A leak.

I've put in a warranty repair request to the company who installed it. (The actual installers from seven months ago are the ones the master contractor subsequently fired so it's possible it just took this long for something to go wrong.)

Last night's snowfall here was around 6" (Ann Arbor, a little north and east, got closer to 8").
We got lucky. Only one tree (so far) on my block had a sizable branch come down... blocking the driveway of the board president's house.
Forgot the photo.
