So. Consumer (and enterprise) routers use Qualcomm, Broadcom, Realtek, or Mediatek chips. Those companies write the sample code for all APs. ODMs then customize the sample for the retail brands we all know.

This is (or was when I owned the ap cert tests) “mostly” done in Taiwan, for all routers.

“Maybe” Broadcom could adjust to this in California, but they left the product space in 2012.

i figured they'd double down but am still blown away by how transparently unwell they'd come off in doing so.
don't pity them. but they are clearly on a sharp downward spiral. if i were on a commercial airline flight and my pilot said this over the intercom i'd be getting my parachute on. (this time, the plane is the global economy.)
