Inspired by discussion on the last livestream, I'm going to try some stupid stunts with Node-RED to build a user interface for a test jig. Come along to my livestream this morning and see if it works!

Join my stream tomorrow to watch me assemble some electronics kits. I have:
* A custom keypad kit from Natalie The Nerd.
* A modern remake of a classic kit from Dick Smith's Funway Into Electronics.
* An Arduino Uno compatible in kit form.

Starting in 5 minutes I'll be attempting to load OXRS firmware onto this ESP32-based home automation touchscreen that uses Austin's Power-over-Ethernet board. Come along and watch me screw it up!

I have a package from Canada sitting on my desk that I'm not allowed to open until my livestream on Sunday. This is killing me! I know at least one thing that's in it, but there are also mystery items and I hate the suspense :-O

Join us on Sunday to find out what Austin has sent me, and to learn about his clever circuit to do auto-switching for different types of Power-over-Ethernet:

Will I burn down the factory on a livestream? That's always a strong possibility, but now that I have a 7.8kW SMT reflow oven the chances just got even better!

Let's run a thermocouple through it and see if we can profile it. Starting in ... oh wow, 11 minutes:

Previously there was no earth strapping between the parts of the frame. The front is hinged, so it relied on conduction through the hinges!

Earth strapping is now in place.

Almost ready to plug it back in and see if the smoke comes out.

Chain drive for the conveyor. This is a very solid oven: it's REALLY heavy.

Also, a big shout out to Lachlan, who has far more experience than I do with industrial equipment and has made this conversion possible 🙂

Rewiring the 3-phase power switch back to being 3-phase is complete. Not much to do now except test!

A quick test with a 3-phase cable wired directly into the circuit breakers, and ... success!

So now the proper conversion begins. The new power cable now comes in through a cable gland and terminates.

Some rewiring between the terminal blocks, the power switch, and the circuit breakers, and we should be all good to go.

What the hell? I think this used to be a 3-phase oven! L1, L2, L3 are right there. Could it really be this easy?

It looks like they simply ganged the phases together through the power switch.

Hmmm. This looks reversible.
