Eldest's boyfriend has an Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop. Keyboard doesn't work - hardware fault. Quick look at YouTube and it's easier to replace the motherboard in that thing than it is to get to the keyboard!

Meanwhile, I love my @FrameworkPuter Laptop 16.

Yesterday I enjoyed attending the ISC2 Secure London conference. I bumped into some familiar faces, had some good conversations, and heard some good talks. My latest #blog post is a summary write up of the day.

I don't know about you, but I find it fascination seeing what software other people use. I've just #blogged a list of some of the tools I use regularly. Other people's lists have helped me find new tools in the past.

Software I use (2025)

I've seen various tech people share lists of the software they use, and having been inspired by Neil in this blog post I've chosen to share mine. Personally I find these lists interesting, and they've led me to find new tools that I want to use like Wallabag. Primarily I'm

Today's #blog post shares two anecdotes of when organisations implemented encryption, and how users reacted.

Happy cyber security awareness month 🙂.

Happy cyber security awareness month! I'm kicking off the month with a #blog post about #socialengineering, after a timely call from a friend of mine this morning.

In July I ran three honeypots with a view to examining attacker behaviour. Results published on my latest #blog post. Interestingly there's been differences every time I've done this research.

Repeating my honeypot research showed attacks had changed again.

Two mobile phone visual refreshes in one week?! 🤯

Really liking the Android visual updates, a good refresh.

Apple iOS 26 installed last night. Liquid glass is OK. Hasn't impacted me as much as the Android update. Liquid glass may be less good for those with sight problems.

I recently finished reading "Jumpers: Code Zero" as an advanced reader. This is Z.R.R Beatham's debut sci-fi novel, and if you like stories set in dystopian futures with interesting twists and turns this book is worth a read. Review on my #blog.
