Fidesz' massive defeat comes despite:
- multiple active Russian disinformation campaigns
- the US government actively supporting Fidesz
- Fidesz owning the majority of TV & radio stations + newspapers
- Fidesz having gerrymandered the crap out of the country
- many documented cases of voter suppression & paying disinfrenchised voters for support
- Fidesz pouring unprecedented $$$ into their campaign

Feeling a little proud of my country for the first time in a while 🇭🇺

This focuses closely on last year's Pride march, which I was hoping someone would do: "2025 Pride march was not only an expression of solidarity w/LGBTQ community, but, much like No Kings marches in US, opportunity to show govt their capacity for intimidation & bullying may have reached its limit."

It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...

Maybe we can stop calling that nonsense "populism".

Call it "populism of fools".

I hope they send Vance to campaign in the US midterms :-P
