This year marks the centenary of Frege’s death in 1925.
We are organising a workshop in Lisbon to commemorate Frege’s legacy, focusing on Fregean logic and the philosophy of mathematics. We welcome both historical and contemporary contributions.
The call for abstracts is open until 30th April.
Please check the details on the workshop’s website: https://cful.letras.ulisboa.pt/lancog/events/commemorating-frege-logic-and-philosophy-of-mathematics/
In my review, I deal with two issues Schröder considera in these works that have, I think, some historical relevance: a definition of equinumerosity of (finite) collections, and the status of the distribute laws in the calculus of classes.
A preprint can be found on my website: https://bertransanmillan.net/research/
My review of Pollard’s “Ernst Schröder on Algebra and Logic” has been published (online) in Philosophia Mathematica! https://academic.oup.com/philmat/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/philmat/nkae012/7720423
Pollard's volume contains English translations of two of Schröder's early works, the “Lehrbuch der Arithmetik und Algebra für Lehrer und Studirende” (1873) and “Der Operationskreis des Logikkalkuls” (1877): https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-05671-0
There will be some slots for contributed talks, and we have just announced a call for abstracts. Submission details are in the link: https://cfcul.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/divulgacao/call-for-abstracts-roots-and-new-trends-in-logicism-workshop/?divulgar=calls
Both historical and philosophical takes on logicism are welcome. We are looking forward to receiving contributions!
Bruno Jacinto and I are organising a workshop on (neo)logicism in Lisbon (September, 11-13).
The invited speakers are: Ludovica Conti (IUSS Pavia), Fernando Ferreira (University of Lisbon), Salvatore Florio (University of Oslo), Sébastien Gandon (Clermont Auvergne University), Gregory Landini (University of Iowa) and Hannes Leitgeb (LMU Munich – MCMP).
I'm a historian of logic. My research focuses upon the relationship between Frege’s, Peano’s, Russell’s and Hilbert’s developments in mathematical logic.

My paper on Peano's geometry has finally been published! https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-031-42190-7_2
It is my contribution to Paola Cantù and Georg Schiemer's edited volume "Logic, Epistemology and Scientific Theories - From Peano to the Vienna Circle" (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-42190-7).
In Principii di Geometria (1889b) and ‘Sui fondamenti della Geometria’ (1894) Peano offers axiomatic presentations of projective geometry. There seems to be a tension in Peano's construction of geometry in these two works: on the one hand, Peano...
