We also believe it is imperative to build alternatives to the current tech ecosystem & its reliance on surveillance. And building these alternatives requires understanding the political economy of the industry, so we don’t mistake an elegant idea for a realistic possibility.

Gun control is a contentious issue in the United States. Its origins are complex, tied to a history of racial tension, political power dynamics, & competing interpretations of the Second Amendment. One significant chapter in this history is the emergence of the Black Panther Party and their role in the gun control debate.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Ordered to Pay $5 Million to Man Who Did ‘Prove Mike Wrong’

Mike Lindell launched a contest challenging people to prove his data on the 2020 election wasn’t valid

The Wall Street Journal

Also, any serious discussion of election security has to grapple with two simultaneous realities:

- there's no evidence that any US election outcome has ever been altered by hacking

- there are real, exploitable vulnerabilities in many parts of our election infrastructure

I've written a bit on what these vulnerabilities are and how to fix them, See, e.g., this brief article:

In 2022, inflation reached its highest level since 1981.

@jeffowski One couldn't have anything to do with the other? Just mere coincidence I guess.
@jeffowski *inflates ur profits until they're big and round*

New rule:

If you're going to post a meme about "40-year inflation high" you might want to mention that this was reported in January of 2022

It's almost November of 2023 where I am

How about where you are?

Inflation at 40-year high pressures consumers, Fed and Biden

Inflation jumped at its fastest pace in nearly 40 years last month, a 7% spike from a year earlier that is increasing household expenses, eating into wage gains and heaping pressure on President Joe Biden and the Federal Reserve to address what has become the biggest threat to the U.S. economy. Prices rose sharply in 2021 for cars, gas, food and furniture as part of a rapid recovery from the pandemic recession. Price gains could slow further as snags in supply chains ease, but most economists say inflation won’t fall back to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon.

@FinchHaven -- It never ceases to amaze me that no matter how progressive someone claims they are, it's always a white dude that doesn't follow this feed or knows what's going on with this feed that posts this sort of thing that they think HURTS the meme, when it totally supports and shows how much worse things really are now today.

@jeffowski

January of 2022 is not November of 2023

If you're going to post incendiary political trolls, at least have your factual basis a little closer to reality

mkay?

Inflation *now* is around 3.7% for "All Items"

A little different from "a 40-year high" of over 9.1%

@FinchHaven -- OMG, you don't know what inflation is or how it works.
Inflation is "down", but inflation NEVER REVERSES. It is higher NOW than it has ever been. The acceleration of price increases is simply lower currently than in the very recent few months, but it is still increasing. The US economic policy is 1.2% inflation as the target.
