About meStill unscrewing the inscrutable

I love it when pro #cycling gets mass media coverage for the right reasons. I’m also sure that yesterday’s result made Wout’s decision easier! #TDF2023 #TourDeFrance

I dunno, folks, maybe we should get together and figure out how we can drive less #BikeTooter

@cosmocatalano I'm old enough to remember when we thought XML was a good idea.

Found something remarkable (and also quite sad).

In 1997, Wired published "The Long Boom", a hyper-optimistic article about how we'd achieve Utopia by 2020.

The authors included notes on some "scenario spoilers"—negative events that might send is in a worse direction.

...and those spoilers turned out to be almost spookily accurate.

@toddrowell @GeWilli I’m also an Ivory user and I like it! You’re right that Bsky is in theory federated, but clearly they’re not as ideologically motivated by that as is the Masto project. Or at least they’re not giving braindead advice like “you should join a small server [that might disappear at any time and where you’re doing to miss a good chunk of replies from other servers].”
@GeWilli @toddrowell Masto is OK but its federated structure limits its appeal for me. It will never achieve the breadth and depth of discussion that Twitter had. I miss Twitter (circa 2009-2016) but I ain't going back. Maybe Bsky will capture some of that magic.
@toddrowell a month or two? I don’t remember exactly when I signed up.
