I do things. I am a macOS, Slackware, classic gaming enjoyer. I also tend to gravitate toward ARM things. Friends call me loco, internet calls me r0ni. But really I’m Jay and I’m 100% “loco” ;)

Ok, I finally did the initial part of attempting to move off of mastodon.social. Once things approve, then I'll attempt actual migration, in which I fully expect something to go wrong and I'll lose data/followers or something. This is the way of the world. 🙃
@peppe oh yes it’ll let you turn it into snackware if you want too. 🤣
@peppe yeah I mean hdd space is plentiful, no reason to remove all this stuff anyway ;) I do wish it were an easy task to have slim installs with Slackware but it’s a painful time investment to manage. Props to you for trying though ;)
@peppe I use this to check my repos for needing any rebuilds. There’s other scripts, I have a few of them. They all do the same thing but this one is the best, combined with slackpkg it’s really helpful. Some things tho (not kde, nwg) will always show as wrong (Firefox, thunderbird, speech-dispatcher), it’s just their out of path libs (but don’t add them to your path 😜).
@peppe lmao I mean it might work under a user acct, I don't recall. Feel free to inspect it 😀 The author is a very nice, yet very quiet guy who is a bit of a shell script legend. It's the author of Venom Linux, and numerous other things like crux-musl, alice linux, and so many projects. I wholeheartedly trust his code, else I'd of not sent the link!

Run this as root and you can see just how many things are missing libraries... ;)

@peppe heh yep, Slackware may not track deps internally but it gives you tools to do so yourself. Learn the ways of the Slacker and you can hack yourself out of any messed up installation! 😂
@peppe ahh you’re missing the ffmpeg 7.0.2 package from Slackware official. If you come across something telling libs are missing, you can do a “slackpkg file-search libavutil” and it will return what package(s) ships that file. The ffmpeg4 in the kde6 repo was only for vlc (and it’s configured as such) but the system still uses ffmpeg7.
@peppe mpvqt is in the repo, not sure on libavutil, I don’t have such a package in kde6 (unless it’s part of the vlc package). It does operate on my system but 🤔 I’ll look momentarily into it.
@peppe ya know, I did epiphany since I needed to build WebKit anyway, and the first app I decided I wanted was aisleriot so I could play solitaire while waiting on things to build. #priorities also, they didn’t even have a DE when I started, only sway & openbox. I did xfce, lxqt, and someone else did kde6… gnome is the only monster yet to be tackled, and I will succeed. 😂
