We've reached the part of the year that no one wants to talk to a sales guy like me. So welcome to a slow week and time to work on the homelab.

If I wanted to host my own files and stuff and move off of Google, is something like NextCloud or OwnCloud the best choice?

I only know those two names from a name recognition point of view

I know most of you here look done on GenAI and things like ChatGPT and Github Copilot, but as a non developer, the ability to describe a problem and solve it is pretty magical.

Tonight working on understanding Heisman related stats as I watch the B1G Championship Game.

None of the stuff I do is production ready, it just solves some itches I have.

And I don't have to know how to either solve it, or where to find the infromation.

Happy to discuss

whelp i didn't have looking at packet captures and debugging ssl errors on my late friday afternoon schedule

Arguing with sports nerds who believe the "eye test" or "smell test" over the actual stats frustrates me.
"This QB is the current best.."
"Actually the stats show he's ranked 5th..."
"Well I use a different Stat..."
"He's ranked 4th I that stay"

"Well he just looks better than everyone else."

Sorry the data doesn't lie

Welcome to my snow world
Happy snow day Sunday as we woke to 8+ inches of snow with more still falling. Kids are bummed that today isn't a school day so the snow day would mean no school

Punt /CounterPunt continues to be some of the best writing out there. Today is a great example.

Punt-Counterpunt: The Game 2025 | mgoblog

Ohio State Links: Preview, The Podcast, Matt & Seth Show, FFFF offense (chart), Defense (chart). It’s a frigid morning. Here's something to warm up the tenors. PUNT By Bryan MacKenzie @Bry_Mac It was in the middle of the second half, and Michigan had just thrown down another thunderdunk. Their third? Fifth? It didn’t really matter at that point. They were up by a billion points, and Gonzaga had long since waved the white flag. But Michigan was still in the “okay I’mma let you finish but first check this out” phase of the blowout, and their fans were loving every second of it. And the chant was crystal clear on the broadcast:“Beat Ohio.”Color commentator Grant Hill was befuddled. Dusty May’s squad was putting the finishing touches on a statistically unprecedented three-day run with an unmitigated thrashing of the #1 overall KenPom team. They were in the victory lap portion of the game: before they pulled the plug on the Yaxel Show, Michigan getting in just a few extra Rob Deer Home Run Derby swings. And amidst this, the fans—basketball fans, mind you, who had traveled to Las Vegas for this event—were thinking about football?Hill wondered aloud: “Beat Ohio? How about Beat Gonzaga?”Befuddled [After THE JUMP: Ceterum censeo Ohio esse delendam.]

My heart has #Michigan beating Ohio State today, my head knows it will be a loss. I'm still cheering. #GoBlue #JustBeatOhio #JSBO

Today we are enjoying a family movie time

"In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort...."
