Bectu is getting ready to provide London-wide guidance on rates of pay to freelance London Live Events Technicians working in Venues and Corporate, based on a recent rates survey of over 200 live events technicians working in London. Are the rates we're planning to recommend to members too high? Too low? Or "Just Right"? We're asking about... The Going Rate - what daily rate you would generally expect to work for An Achieveable Rate - the rate that we aspire to - some workers should ask for this rate in negotiations and we know some people have actually acheived them. A Minimum Professional Rate - a figure that is the minimum professional rate for this kind of work. The Minimum Professional Rate is the rate that your union urges all members to expect as wages below this rate undermine professional skills and make your work unsustainable in the long term. Please note: We are only asking about the rates you are paid for your labour. These rates do not include any equipment hire or expenses. Please only answer on job titles that you know about. No personal data will collected in this survey, and your responses will only be used for the purpose of this research. Data is collected and held subject to Bectu's Privacy Policy - here: https://bectu.org.uk/privacy/ Survey closes at 9am on Friday 10th March 2023 (N.B., you do not need to log in to Google to complete this survey)
From our London #LiveEvents #Union branch of #bectu; we're looking for data from technical staff across all venues and working environments in events towards building a #RateCard - it's #London centric but will help our regional branches do follow soon.

SURVEY TIME!!
Finally we've created a Rates survey, pls fill it in, it's anonymous and the deadline is 27th Feb.
For the purposes of the survey we only take into consideration DAY RATES paid by London venues/companies, if you're paid hourly, just work out the maths.
If you work for more than one venue/company you can fill more than one survey
The LVTEC Branch of Bectu is investigating the range of rates that are applied to technical freelance roles in London venues and the companies that hire tech crew. We are planning to create guidance for London venue technicians that will help them to bargain for fair rates of pay. This survey will be asking you about your day rates only. We don't want to know what you actually earn - we want to know your PERCEPTIONS about the range of rates that you work to, based on your recent experience working in a tech role in a London live events venue. You can complete this survey more than once if you have recent experience of more than one job-role in recent months. Please complete this before 9am on Monday 27th February 2023. All information collected in this survey will be subject to Bectu's Privacy Policy (https://bectu.org.uk/privacy/) PS - you don't need to sign in to Google to complete this survey.
