Updating the firmware and maps on my 10 year old Garmin GPS.

I'm amazed how much some roads have changed in the last 10 years till my GPS was completely worthless in some areas of my state.

Garmin must have changed their update policy cause I couldn't do it for free before.

If you update, be prepared to set aside multiple hours and you might need to reboot in the middle.

I know most people use their phones these days, just nice to have a dedicated device on long trips.

When updating #OSM I often think of the #MrRogers quote.

"I hope you are proud of yourself for the times you've said "yes," when all it meant was extra work for you and was seemingly helpful only to someone else."

So much of our world is made better by unnamed and unthanked people working tirelessly in the shadows.

Last few days, I have been learning JOSM. Coming from Id, I'm struggling with the differences in keyboard shortcuts and dragging. But gridify and lane visualization alone make it worthwhile.

Already fixed the majority of my lane mistakes.

Ever have one of those problems that feel like a rabbit hole?

Trying to set up a new computer, want to set the drive to GPT, try to configure the BIOS for UEFI, manage to brick the motherboard due to a buggy BIOS, based off a page of somebody with nearly the same motherboard, get a CH341A , it doesn't work. Find out the BIOS chip is 1.8V and I had hooked up a 3.3V programmer. Oh no did I fry it? Let me check with salae logic analyzer. Newer version won't install, get an older version....
