Planning for June 2026

May 2026 was a fairly productive month, although I didn’t get as much done on creative tasks as I had hoped. June is going to mark something of a transition point, as I’m finishing up t…

Some notes on possible improvements to "Architect of Worlds," that might show up in an eventual Second Edition of the book.

Toward a Second Edition of “Architect of Worlds”

Since Architect of Worlds was published in 2024, the book has held up pretty well. We’ve gone through seven minor-version releases, each of which has corrected minor errors or made patches to…

Planning for May 2026

April was a productive month. I didn’t get everything I planned done, but I made decent incremental progress on just about every front, and hit a couple of major milestones. About all I can a…

There's a bit of worldbuilding that often comes up when you're working in a rich setting. Sometimes you'll want to trace master-student or mentor-protégé chains . . .

A Mentorship Chain

New Location for “Architect of Worlds” Errata

Rather than maintain the master errata list for Architect of Worlds as a PDF file - which I then have to provide with a new URL every time there's an update - I've created a page on this site which will always provide the current errata. Here's a link: Architect of Worlds Current Errata List

I've been tinkering with the pre-release draft of the core book for Mongoose Publishing's "Pioneer" RPG. Some neat stuff in here!

Mongoose Publishing is in the process of producing a new Traveller-derived RPG, called Pioneer, set in the near future and centered around a New Space Age in which player characters (called “…

Sharrukin's Palace

Finished using Wonderdraft and Affinity Photo to compose a master map for the core region of the "Great Lands" setting. I'm about ready to start reconstructing the "historical" timeline for the universe . . .

The “Great Lands” Master Map

Okay, here’s another map for the “Great Lands” setting. This one is focused more closely on the Great Lands themselves – that is, proto-Europe. The map was produced using Wo…

New Maps for “Great Lands” Setting

A few years ago, I did a bunch of worldbuilding for an Iron Age fantasy setting that I call "the Great Lands." I even wrote a full-length novel set there, which got self-published and is currently still available in ebook format on Amazon: The Curse of Steel. The novel got almost no engagement in its time, and the sequel I had started ran into a plot block, so I eventually set the whole project aside.

Planning for April 2026

Huh. My apologies to my readers - it looks as if I completely failed to post a planning message for the month of March. I certainly made out a planning board, and I know I intended to make a post about it, but "I'll do it tomorrow" must have gotten a little too entrenched. So let's pick back up with the month of April.

Errata List for “Architect of Worlds”

As of today, I'll be maintaining a complete errata list for Architect of Worlds, tracking changes to the current draft since the initial release in May of 2024. The book has held up fairly well, given its size and the audience it's found - we've only had to release six minor versions, and the errata list is fairly short. There…
