Look I know you're all doing this kind of thing day in and day out, but I'm proud of myself: Baby's first CI pipeline!

My dummy little WordPress child theme now has PHPStan static analysis, PHPCS code sniffing, and a completely pointless but importantly ✅ set of Integration and End to End tests, all running on GitHub Actions.

Now to apply all this on a real project where I'll have one thousand more little things to solve 😅

Maybe you don't care about private communications, but there are lives that currently depend on my being able to use Signal. And I mean that literally.

horrifying, and look how it ties into ideas about influencing "the algorithm":
"During a Parliament session in February, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office (Religious Affairs) Marhamah Rosli said that discontinuing the use of the term will influence online algorithms and thus prevent the “normalization” of LGBTQ+ culture."

Malaysian government replaces the term ‘LGBT’ with ‘deviant culture’

"They are legitimizing hate and discrimination against a highly vulnerable group. Words from those in power carry weight and real-world consequences."

Have been quiet on the arthropod photography front for a few days, partly due to the intense heat 🥵, but also thanks to a conference at @mpi_astro this week..

But from the Königstuhl today, here's a beautiful butterfly [edit] moth! to keep things going: it's a scarlet tiger (Callimorpha dominula), nicely named Schönbär in German 🙂

Relatable.

Don’t miss “Caught Stealing”, Darren Aronofsky’s charming 2025 thriller film.

I hadn’t heard a single thing about it but it kept playing on silent during intercity bus trips here in Mexico and catching my attention.

I’m a long time fan of Aronofsky, and appreciate how this movie is simpler than some of his more cerebral work. Just a fun, violent story about a normal guy who gets in way over his head. Fun, sad, touching, what more could we ask for.
