#Apple and #OpenAI are partners, but if you want to install the ChatGPT Mac app, you won't find it in the official source, the Mac App Store. Looking there, you're confronted with a bunch of wannabes, copycats, and lookalikes. Instead, you have to download it from ChatGPT's website. Why is that? Is it the Mac App Store being crappy? OpenAI doesn't want to share subscription revenue? Something else?

I remember when #Chrome was introduced as a fast, efficient browser. Just look at this screenshot from the Activity Monitor on my #Mac. #Safari is the browser I actually use. Chrome sits in the background for one specific use case. No plugins. Just idling, sucking 4 times the energy out of my machine compared to Safari … I repeat this over and over: If you own a Mac, use Safari. Use Chrome only if you have to. Close it after using.

Pro tip for less noise on #YouTube: Disable your watch history and YouTube "punishes" you with a blank front page. Perfect! Less time wasted on clickbait videos with their annoying thumbnails and titles. So much better. And it's free, too. And less data hording about me. Finally, the paid account for #ChatGPT competitor Claude is here. Also $20/month. But the payment system is overwhelmed right now it seems. I'll try again later :D

I use OpenAI's offerings and Claude in parallel and Claude's abilities to understand and analyze really long documents is great. And Claude's outputs are also better and more natural sounding. It's become my number 1 #AI assistant.
