With its arrival into #GenerativeAI, Apple unveiled a lot more than expected at WWDC 2024. My 2 big takeaways were:
1.) This is the turning point where GenAI goes mainstream
2.) The bar has been reset for GenAI security and privacy
I’m at Apple WWDC 2024 and the expectations for a big day in AI are palpable. Follow all the latest updates, analysis, and context for all the announcements at zdnet.com.
The M4 OLED iPad Pro brings some very impressive new tech from Apple. It's still not a laptop replacement for most people, though — especially professionals. But here's my look at who might be interested in buying the new Pro or Air:

I've used every iPad since the original. Here's my buying advice for the new 2024 models

The latest high-end iPad models pack a ton of upgrades that include Tandem OLED, M4 chips, and Apple Pencil Pro. But who should buy one?

#VisionPro is the most interesting product Apple has released in years because it is flawed, imperfect, and takes some big risks. But it also does some fascinating things. If I was grading it right now (before I give it an official score in my full review), I would give an A+ for innovation and a C- in product development. We'll get into all of that in the in-depth review on ZDNET. But for now, buckle up because there's A LOT to talk about with this product in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
Here's my buying advice for Apple Vision Pro: Most people shouldn't buy one unless you're building an app or testing it in your organization or industry. But definitely try one by booking an Apple Store appt or get one and take it back w/in the 14-day return window.

I've tried Vision Pro and other top XR headsets and here's the one most people should buy

Vision Pro is an incredible $4,000 developer kit most people should not buy. But, you should definitely try it at an Apple Store or take advantage of the two-week return policy.

Ahead of handing Apple Vision Pro review units out to press, it looks like (and I can confirm) Apple is already pushing approved third-party visionOS apps to the App Store.

If you want to see your app featured in reviews, maybe start talking to your favorite journalists!

The new MacBook Pro with M3 Max is actually even faster and more responsive than Apple suggested. I ran a real-world AI test in Lightroom against 3 other Macs and you can see the chart in my ZDNET review.

MacBook Pro (M3 Max) review: Apple's pro AI laptop is a chart-topper in 2024

Despite shifting industry trends, the MacBook Pro with M3 Max is a powerhouse laptop that's even faster than Apple advertises, as my hands-on testing shows.

Since I posted my thermal photos of how iOS 17.0.3 resolved the iPhone 15 Pro's overheating issue with fast-charging, I've received multiple reports of people still having other overheating issues and some who started having new overheating issues AFTER updating to iOS 17.0.3. Here's the latest, published on ZDNET.

New iPhone 15 Pro overheating reports: Still too hot after iOS 17.0.3 and fresh issues arise after the update

While iOS 17.0.3 appears to have resolved the fast-charging issue, some iPhone 15 Pro users are reporting ongoing heat problems, plus a new screen burn-in issue.

I got a report from someone who is still having overheating issues with their iPhone 15 Pro Max even after updating to iOS 17.0.3. Anyone else having similar issues? If so, please reply or send me an email at jason dot hiner at zdnet dot com.
