They are really purple.
On a ten point purpleness scale I’d give them about an eight.
I don’t think I’ve ever given anything such a high rating on the purpleness scale.

So, I’m having breakfast with a friend tomorrow morning at 8 AM at Okushiga Kogen then we’re to go skiing… I’m wondering if the blizzard that’s going on will permit these things to happen 🤔☃️🌬️⛷️
Day 36 - Sun Valley and more - My friends from Karuizawa stayed overnight and we had another fantabulous day. Yesterday was bluebird skies and tons of fluffy white goodness from 50+ cm dump yesterday. Finally got to Sun Valley, too, and had a blast in the powdery abundance. Probably the best day of the season so far. I skied 26 runs, 23 km.

Day 35 - Ichinose Diamond and more - Skied with friends who came up from Karuizawa and had a fantabulous day with powder that was out of this world!!!
The powder was super light and it snowed for hours and hours. I skied 19 runs, 23.4 km and did my first run on #Giant of the season. Today was an outrageously good day. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

Day 34 - Ryuoo - Much better conditions at Ryuoo yesterday. I’m really finding I like this resort and its funky clientele. I spent two hours skiing and hanging out with some university students who were up from Tokyo and they gave me confidence that Japan is gonna be fine. They also taught me about #BeReal lol. I skied 11 runs, 12.7 km.

Day 33 - Takamagahara - (this is from January 11th) Super nice day with excellent conditions throughout the central area of Shiga including Terakoya, nishi and Higashidate. I skied 8 runs, 13.7 km.

Day 32 - Hoppo Bunadaira - Such a fun day teaching three kids how to ski better. They’re working at Shibu Onsen at a really famous ancient ryokan for months and didn’t understand that we have Japan’s largest and highest altitude ski resort right in town. I skied 4 runs, 6 km.

Day 31 - Terakoya - Stunningly beautiful day all day. My buddies came up from Karuizawa and we had perfect fluffy powder and firm but super soft pistes on Bunadaira, Nishitate, Higashitate, Takamagahara, and Terakoya. It was a real joy. I skied 12 runs, 18.4 km.

Day 30 - Hoppo Bunadaira - spent the night at a great inn that is only accessible via skis or snowcat/snowmobile, and woke up to 40+cm of fresh fluffy goodness and heavy snow falling. It was a short day due to an afternoon commitment but I skied 9 runs, 14.9 km.
