Jeff Bezos threats to buy Conde Nast should absolutely be taken seriously.

It would give him control over a number of media outlets that are strong voices in opposition of fascism (like Wired and Teen Vogue)

Under the oligarchs control they would be forced to become right wing propaganda.

Now more than ever we must support independent journalists… many of whom are speaking truth to power despite the personal risk.

If you can boycott Amazon, please do it. Send a strong message with your wallet that you don’t support fascism or the billionaire class.

If you can’t boycott, please don’t feel guilty. Many disabled people and those in poverty may be reliant on Amazon for supplies they can’t get elsewhere.

Trust that your community is boycotting on your behalf.

We’ve got you, and you need to take care of yourself in order to survive.

I bounce between Mastodon and Reddit and the experience is drastically different, but I am not certain why.

Reddit fills me with rage. I read story after story of the world falling apart. Then I get into the comments to argue with people who disagree with me.

I know SM companies design their product to get this reaction, but how much of it is the secret sauce?

Mastodon is kind of boring. I am not sure if it is because of who I follow or the algorithms are truly that powerful.

Is it possible that social media is not addictive without the additives?
Do other people notice this?

The car is the perfect capitalist machine.

Anti-relational: each driver isolated. Others on the road aren't community; they're obstacles.

Cars facilitate suburbs with isolated yards and little common space.

Cars remove choice. Transit gets cut. Walking/biking is dangerous.

Cars spawn big box stores with easy parking that need to be rebuilt after a few decades.

Cars are perpetual spending machines: for the vehicle, gas, roads/bridges/highways, insurance.
