@apt I really like that idea; however, since Back to my Mac went away, do you have suggestions for what I should use to fill that remote session gap, please?

(Hopefully) Not preaching… instead sharing one of my regular rituals.

I try to be environmentally conscientious. I know I can be better at it.

There’s lots we all can / could / must do. Small changes are what add up to a bigger difference, and that’s why I try to remember to plant a tree everyday (for free) using TreeApp

I’ve been debating if I need both an iPad and a MacBook. I used to have both, but my MacBook was the 2010 Pro and died after ten years service.

Like the presenter of the linked video, there are many things I’d do in macOS that I just can’t in iPadOS.

I can’t justify £2000 on the M2 MacBook with 16Gb RAM and 1Tb of storage. What I want, for my portability, is macOS on an iPad. Until then, I’m Mac Mini at home, and iPad on the road.

Btw: Mastodon lets you use two-factor authentication (e.g. with Google Authenticator, Yubico Authenticator, ...)

I'd recommend making use of it to protect your account.

@apt I wonder if I sold you a ZX80 on eBay ten years ago?
I may have made another retro purchase. #atari #retro

Don't confuse privacy with secrecy. We know what happens in the bathroom, but you still close the door. That's because you want privacy, not secrecy. Everyone has something to hide, privacy is something that makes you human.

@apt Ah, so this doesn’t cut it then? https://hub.docker.com/r/tootsuite/mastodon It’s just a component and you need all the other dependencies to be in place?
@apt Saw you were looking to self host and use Docker. Given v4 just went RC, is it worth waiting a teeny bit?

How to migrate from one Mastodon server to another without losing followers:

1. Sign up on new server
2. On NEW server: Go to Account -> Moving FROM another account
3. Enter old account's handle
4. On OLD server: Go to Account -> Moving TO another account
5. Enter new account's handle and submit
