@caseyliss More like Display*Reprehensible*, am I right!?
@jamesoloughlin @siracusa Is it even tethered? Would anyone mind if someone just up and took it?

@jamesthomson You know what you have to do now, right?

1. Turn PCalc into a platform that can run other apps.
2. Create PCalc marketplace where PCalc users can install PCalc apps and where developers can submit new PCalc apps via a Byzantine process.
3. Build and submit PCalc for PCalc to the PCalc marketplace.
4. Reject yourself for IP infringement. Add that “going to the press won’t work.”
5. Go to the press.
6. After mounting pressure, finally relent and approve the PCalc for PCalc.

"AI can make mistakes, always check the results"

I fucking loathe this phrase and everything that goes into it. It's not advice. It's a threat.

You probably read it as "AI is _capable_ of making mistakes; you _should_ check the results".

What it actually says is "AI is _permitted_ to make mistakes; _you are liable_ for the results, whether you check them or not".

Except "you" is generally not even the person building, installing, or even using the AI. It's the person the AI is used on:

App Intents people: I have an intent that I’d like to take one of two things:

• Tuple of (enum, int)
OR
• An object that was created by a different of my intents

Is there any way to do this cleanly? It sure seems like this should do it, but it doesn’t:

@glennf @mwichary Only tangentially related, but it's crazy to think that Apple released hardware and documentation for “alternative operating systems.” School aged Mac using me had no idea what these keys were for, because I believe many of them did nothing in Classic Mac OS. On the plus side, introducing Control to the Mac turned out to be great when Mac OS X came along 15 years later with its UNIX terminal.
@NanoRaptor @jamesthomson Not to be pedantic, but I believe you mean “we’re ALL DUCKED!”

1. I have also had zero issues.
2. Before buying refurbished, you might want to wait and see if discounts show up on Amazon or Woot.
3. Dan made the same point I did about how this lackluster update adversely and retroactively makes buying a Studio Display in 2022 a surprisingly good investment.
