How much internet and computer does one need to have a reasonable approximation of google in say 2005 that is useful in 2025. Wikipedia, stack overflow and friends, maybe a scrape of reddit… and then maybe one layer of links for everything linked there? Probably achievable by a two person team with a modest budget, same as back then.

Who is doing privacy focused services for search and truly “web scale” (not self hosted) things in 2025?
