The Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) supports research of importance to the evolution of the Internet protocols, applications, architecture, and technology.

The IRTF focusses on supporting research related to the Internet, while the parallel organization, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), focuses on the shorter term issues of engineering and standards making.

Ready for an electrifying look at a greener internet? Join IRTF SUSTAIN RG on Friday in Montreal, with talks on a unique dataset of routers' energy demand and how to reduce it, sunsetting 3G in an operational network, carbon accounting, and augmenting the Path Energy Traffic Ratio API.
IRTF DINRG is meeting today at 14:30 in Montreal to discuss recent central Internet infrastructure outage events, new ideas for combining privacy and decentralization for Encrypted Client Hello (ECN), decentralized system design, and AT protocol design challenges.
Looking forward to an exciting IRTFOPEN meeting at IETF-124 next week Monday with two ANRP winner talks by Jacob Ginesin and Saksham Agarwal. In addition, we invited Renata Teixeira for a keynote on Netflix Streaming over Starlink.
