This is kinda what Gab did. You know, that very ugly place of pure hate on the internet.. (Don't search for it, take my word).
They forked(cloned) the #Mastodon code and demolished it, making it vulnerable for hackers and building 'paid' features.
And it's almost the exact same features Musk is talking about now.
