Is it okay to share photos that have been heavily altered in an app like Prisma at a social network designed mostly to showcase naturalistic photographers? We're about to find out, as I attempted earlier to capture the unexpected onslaught of the beginning of a winter storm here in Chicago on December 23rd, as it nicely contrasted with the homey, warm comfort of my small bedroom here at the Hyde Park co-op where I live. I couldn't get an unfiltered shot directly from my camera to convey the dichotomy well, so I ended up having to run it through a heavy filter at my favorite app for doing such stuff, the sometimes flabbergasting Prisma, so I don't know how photography purists will feel about seeing it here at a photography-oriented online destination. In any case, 6 inches of snow in 24 hours, along with -25 F temperatures and 50 mph winds, has essentially killed any plans I had to visit my parents in St. Louis, which means a quiet week of just me, the winter snow, and a giant cartridge of cannabis vape. Happy holidays indeed!
