I'm #mum of three kids, most of the time single-parenting. I love life-long learning and can't imagine ever stopping to learn something new every day.
Currently dabbling in #gamedev, #sailing, doing a #PhD. Occasionally #3dprinting, messing with #RPi and electronics and #sewing.

I can report: the laundry is drying nicely in the garden. Spring is definitely on its way.
My son knows how he gets extra computing time:
Mum, can I do #scratch ?
And they are done. I run out of yarn during the second one, so hat to frog the first and messed up the counting, so there are not slightly different in length. But the recipient loves them anyway.
Reminder to myself: I dont like knitting flat if the actual thing is round.

And so it begins.
It being fingerless gloves. And I remembered too late that I prefer lace over cables, but here we are. Cables it is.

I am writing up my PhD.
But I also have a broken printer at home. So technically I have most parts to build a pen plotter. Which I should absolutely should do, right?

And it's live! You can now play Postcards from Saxony on itch.
I would do a ton differently next time (first up, make it a point and click) and I might come back to it at some point to make it into the game it deserves to be, but I am happy with this prototype.

I am finally writing the actual story for my little game. It's coming together! I only need to do little tweeks to the gameplay and finish putting all the dialogue in.

I am using illustrations from a book as characters in my game. My son (11) saw me screenshotting and cutting the pictures.
"Mum, you can't do this! You will get into trouble with the copyright!"

Said book is from 1855. He was only happy after looking up how long copyright holds him self.

I think the kids will be alright.

After countless cleaning cycles, dousing the print head in distilled water and pushing cleaning solution with syringes through the internal pipes, I give up.
After 17 years of service this #brotherprinter is allowed to retire. I am still amazed by the fact that brother still supplies drivers and manuals on its website for a printer which hit the market in 2007. Let's see whether the next one lasts as long.
I wish unclogging a nozzle in an inkjet would be as easy as unclogging a nozzle in a #3dprinter
