BrisbaneTimes and other media parroting the cover name that Israel uses for its undeclared nuclear weapon enrichment facility. It's an open secret so report it properly. Ya know, just like the one that Iran allegedly has that was the whole precept for this war. Double standards like this are disgusting.
The most horrific thing (to me) about US fuel prices is the way prices are presented. There's a decimal, so this is dollars and not cents...SO JUST ADD ANOTHER DECIMAL. Also, is an 18c premium normal for card vs cash?
If BMW think that their "special" screw head will stop independent mechanics then I guess they haven't heard of AliExpress. I'm pretty sure that German (and other western) patents don't inconvenience the vendors that sell there. https://www.autoblog.com/news/bmws-screw-that-no-one-else-can-turn

How much money does the Brisbane City Council waste in data storage through poor document design? I found a presentation on the metro that's 11 pages of fluff, but it is a 1GB PPTX file. This is just one file -- how many more are like this? https://s3.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com/docs.brisbane.qld.gov.au/Council+and+Committees/2024/10-October/29+October+2024/Minutes+and+Presentations/Transport-+Presentation+-+Brisbane+Metro+route+169+-+29+Oct+2024.pptx

Windows upgrade done on my "tester" laptop that I bought as used/refurb before Christmas. Fedora Kinoite runs very nicely with all the hardware supported, including keyboard and screen backlights. tlp controls over-charging the battery, which at 90% condition isn't too bad for a 6yr old machine.

It can run Win 11, but having to use that for work is bad enough. This is a test of an immutable OS to see if I get myself into less strife than regular Fedora.

The G4 geomagnetic storm is having an effect on the New Zealand power grid. Transpower have issued a Grid Emergency Notice and have taken lines and transformers in Southland out of service.

The 50th anniversary of the Whitlam dismissal is digging up some interesting reports. Some declassified memos from the 1970s are eye-opening. Heaven forbid Australia was independent of the US! And they didn't predict the dismissal. https://www.fordlibrarymuseum.gov/sites/default/files/pdf_documents/library/document/0398/1981991.pdf #auspol #usinterference
The AI slop polluting the web is making it unusable. A (what I thought was) simple query about changes/benefits of Samsung One UI 8 delivered a total turd of a 'blog post' with these gems. Not linking to them, but ugh. If text extruders are going to be used, declare it upfront.
The oddness of Australia's states hits when looking at weather forecasts. The Bureau of Meteorology is a federal agency, but for some reason storm warnings are state based. Here's the NSW and Queensland warnings for the same storm. It gets crazier when the dangerous storm is over the border and shown, but the affected areas are only in the 'home' state.
This image from Aïda Amer (used by Axios) sums up the USA perfectly. [Edit, removed Axios affiliation, as it looks like Aïda is an independent artist)
