@alecmuffett Hi Alec, do you mind if I use this as a case study for OSINT research? I'll keep your actual account anonymous and nothing will be published online.
My idea is to dig into the scammer's info online and into who is running the scam url.
@yo_bj I've been wanting to pivot from Linux Sysadmin/DevOps to cybersecurity but it seems like there are a ton of people already doing that so I thought maybe privacy could be the way to go.
I assumed that most companies would be doing the bare minimum CYA compliance, but I also thought if I could maybe be a small influence to make privacy more than just a checkbox on a regulatory form, that could actually be a net benefit.
Being that I'm a techie, I thought the CIPT would be the way to go instead of the CIPP/US.
Hi @yo_bj I was looking here for people with the CIPT cert because I am thinking about studying for it. I wanted to know how your experience has been and if it's actually useful in your line of work.
I would prefer to help individuals protect their privacy online instead of organizations protecting customers, but there's no cert for that, but this is the best route that I can see.
