Arguments like this rely on what is evident and obvious as being the argument. The sceptic then has to show a valid objection.
We can pull people back from the precipice of nonsensical unreality by forcing them to look and then deny what they see rationally. This forces them to think and use that algorithmically scrambled brain.
Our best chance is getting a moment of clarity every now and then. We are planting seeds on hard ground. We only need a few to grow however
This might seem impossible, but radical scepticism is not new. We can use our eyes to see reality. G.E. Moore made the argument very well.

The mechanism of this argument seems ridiculous until you realise its mechanics. Another example:
1. Extending your hand out from your chest into the air with a flat palm is a fascist salute
2. That's what Musk did
3. Therefore musk did a fascist salute.
The reason we struggle to see #war , #fascism and #totalitarianism in this time period is because we have moved firmly into the post modern age.
#Russia using disinformation to change electoral outcomes in foreign countries does not look like war.
Red trucker caps don't look like fascism.
Doorbell cameras don't look like totalitarianism.
Our shared reality has collapsed, and with that our shared values and goals.
We will have to find ways to re-establish a common reality.
#AI is VERY useful. The problem is that it's being seen as a source of profit and not for what it is. We did this before when radioactivity was discovered. It was put into everything from wrist watches, crockery and face cream.
We have societies that lack resilience and see impulse control as vice. On the other hand those who shove technology down our throats make anyone with an active prefrontal cortex recoil at it.
So the people who shouldn't use it are and the people who should aren't.

If peace holds Russia's economy will be destroyed by low oil prices. If you couple this with Ukrainian deep strikes and sanctions, it will be an economic bloodbath. How much is lower quality sanctioned oil with intermittent supply worth?
Furthermore, the strait of Hormuz has made doubling down on fossil fuel politically untenable for democratic nations. At the same time renewable energy is overtaking fossil fuel in many domains.

Defeating the Iranian regime doesn't happen through military means. It happens by looking for opportunities for peace in the region. Political change in #Israel would be my bet. The world needs to isolate Israel until it stops its genocidal oppression of #Palestine . Then, there is an urgent need to rebuild what Israel has destroyed, and there must be consequences for the perpetrators of evil in Israel.

This is absolutely true and they know it, but they rationalise it by telling themselves that 2 lives at least will be saved by their wise command of wealth.
So my question to everyone would be: would you press the button if you knew you could save a thousand lives if you were given that money, even though some random person dies?
