I’m not trans. As far as I know, my kids aren’t at the moment. Nobody in my family is. None of my good friends are. I don’t prescribe medication for gender affirming care. I don’t specifically treat folks for gender dysphoria. So why do I give a fuck?
You don’t punch down. There’s no transgender machine producing trans judiciary and trans politicians and trans PACs to come for my cisgender. There are trans folks being discriminated against, outed, beaten, jailed, and killed. I hate bullies.
@heidilifeldman One of the major things the Trump II era has taught me is to feel other people's struggles *in my bones*
I had an intellectual understanding before, but it was the kind of understanding that still allowed me to go about my life, knowing that I should be doing things, but more often than not, not actually doing much
That is not an option for me anymore. I can't sit at home. I can't. It doesn't matter that no one is coming after me, personally, yet, not really. They are coming for my neighbors, my people, for what I want my country to be and a switch has flipped.
Now, going out and being active is easy, sitting at home alone is impossible
10/🧵: In the end, none of this matters. There is no "meaning of life". Values are a human social construct, and the universe does not give a damn. Only people do.
That means that you are 100% free to choose what matters to you. If you are a good person who wants to do good - and the vast majority of us are - you do not have to justify it.
Because nothing matters, it does not matter if it is naive. Or hopeless. Idealistic. Meaningless. Cringe.
You really can be good just for the hell of it.
Birds of prey act as sentinels to warn of forever chemicals
https://phys.org/news/2026-03-birds-prey-sentinels-chemicals.html

A new paper investigates how raptors, or birds of prey like hawks and eagles, act as a sentinel species that can reveal the level of forever chemicals in the local environment. The forever chemicals, or PFAS, are especially high in species that eat fish. The review titled, "Raptors as Sentinels: Unveiling the Environmental and Health Risks of Pfas Contamination," published in Toxicology Mechanisms and Methods, provides a comprehensive analysis of the current scientific data on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a persistent environmental contaminant of global concern.
Fair play Martin!
A powerful finish to Martin Leahy's 200 week long protest outside the Dáil.
Everyone should have a home - a message more important than ever.
It's a political choice to make people homeless, while tens of thousands of properties sit vacant.
We have to build a movement to fight for housing as a basic human right!

today we did a walk in the neighborhood and found these two century plants have begun putting up their giant end-of-life flower stalks. They will be tall.
