2025 has been such a fucking weird year for me, man.
First it started with me burying my mom. Then I got hospitalized because I tried to kill myself. Then I went to therapy, met new friends.
And now you mean to tell me after all of this I somehow managed to get a girlfriend? What the hell is going on anymore, man...
This year has been such a rollercoaster.
This really showed during the Steam Summer Sale this year for me as well. It's just so fucking hard to get excited, even for events like that.
I scrolled for days, looking for any new game to buy that I'd be interested in. Instead, I just ended up buying a bunch of old games like Silverfall for 60 cents, and despite the game not working on Linux - I still find that a more worthwhile purchase than anything "new" I would've bought.
Modern gaming fucking sucks, man.
The more time passes, the more I'm reconsidering what I said earlier that "Pokemon Legends Z-A will be the last Nintendo product I buy".
Even if I want to play that game, I just can't. I don't want to support Nintendo and I sure as hell don't want to support the depressing state of the gaming industry either.
I think I'm honestly just...done. I'll stick to my old games that I already own, on consoles I've already bought in the past. And just enjoy what I own.
I'm honestly just heartbroken with the modern state of gaming. I'm tired, man.
I'm tired of companies like Nintendo, Ubisoft, EA treating their customers like wallets to steal rather than actual users of their products.
I'm tired of all the live-service & subscriptions.
I'm tired of seeing new game announcements and just going "meh".
I'm tired, boss...
Funnily enough, me going back to things like the GBA, DS and 3DS is what really opened my eyes as to why people are so heartbroken over Nintendo being what it is today.
Truthfully, playing games on my DS has been the most fun I've had gaming in years. Like the childhood I never had sort of thing.
I get the heartbreak now.
It's been a little while since the Switch 2 released and...honestly, I'm still not convinced on the console.
The more time passes, the more I just keep thinking that I'm really not missing anything by not getting it and sticking with my original Switch.
Sure, improved performance in games I love like Pokemon Scarlet/Violet is nice and I'd love to do a Switch 2 playthrough of it but...that's not enough for me to want to get one.
