World Book Night is taking place on the 23rd April and all The Reading Agency are asking, is that people participate in a #readinghour from 7pm. For this, we may need to draw on the power of a short story.

But what short stories are best for an hour on the sofa with a good book? Personally, I'd go for either Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle or Close Range: Wyoming Stories by Annie Proulx. The floor is now open for ideas πŸ€”

Who is excited to see the upcoming film adaptation of The Odyssey and is anyone going to use it as an excuse to read this fantastic story by Homer?

As we're celebrating the national #YearofReading, it's worth knowing that Penguin have released a stunning hard back edition of this Greek classic.

While many people are familiar with 'Of Mice and Men' and 'Grapes of Wrath', have you ever read John Steinbeck's non-fiction books 'America and Americans' or 'Travels with Charley'?

In 1960, John Steinbeck set out in his pick-up truck with his dog Charley to rediscover and chronicle his native USA, on a 10,000-mile journey that took him through almost forty states.

As last years display of garden poppies was a success, I'm hoping for another blooming marvelous year. One of my favorites is the California Poppy, which are easy to grow, vibrant and their colour reflects a perfect sunny day🌞

@KimSJ @markhburton then why don't you write them down now, or create new ones?

@markhburton thanks for that and will look more into it!

Here's a link to https://ashdownforest.org/ and the home of Winnie the Pooh 🍯 🍯

@markhburton I've got to admit that I've learned something new! I didn't know Watership Down was a real place 😱 but then again, I got excited when I discovered Ashdown Forest is the actual home of Winnie the Pooh.

We need more rabbits and we need more bears🐻 🧸 🐰 πŸ‡ We need more fascinating stories that capture the imagination and grandfather clocks that strike 13. If you or anyone at CAF is able to help with this campaign, it really would be appreciated ⭐

Saw this in the Trafford Centre branch of Waterstones and it reminded me, that Watership Down was one of the first books I read at primary school. Another classic was Toms Midnight Garden.
