Flinger of packets; network engineer by trade. These days more general platform tech, strategy, and generally trying to make it suck less to develop, deploy, and run stuff at scale. Expect tech nerdy things, snark & bad puns, and nature & animal pics.

My employer's social media policy says I have to tell you I work for Demonware -> Activision Publishing -> Activision Blizzard -> Microsoft Gaming, and that "views are not necessarily those of my employer".

"Clean room"

We had our first decently warm day out for the season. We had family over, and around mid day I realized that the fans in the animal enclosures probably would have kicked in.

I got those completed not too long ago, so this was the first time with all of the fans properly "smartened" that they would trigger.

Everything Just Worked™️
No having to think ahead for hot days, not worrying about energy reserves for the solar setup, no interrupting anything we're doing and hiking up the hill.

Love it when a plan comes together!

Either FedEx decided that my package forgot something in Japan and needed to circle back real quick, or someone botched some timezones.

Dishwasher cabinet/box built and installed!

This project took a backseat over the winter, in part because the outlets where we were going to bank the one fan in the barn needed to get moved, ergo the fan placement itself was still up in the air.

But! I managed to take some time today to knock out the rest of this work!

All three of the remaining units are completed and installed, and the original "pilot" unit in the big, black box (https://social.treehouse.systems/@hugo/115126863692909609) is also now moved over to the more sleek 3d-printed case.

Great success!

(only 4 fans in the summary screenshot as the 5th is a "spare" in a barn, and hidden when not powered on and available)

Had a visitor today. I couldn't get pictures of this as it was further away, but when they got to the clearing that leads into the forest, there were three or four more friends waiting for them.
istg I thought "wth is a Google ship doing in the harbour?"

yea; that timing lines up.

"Hostwatch ate my system: A story in graphs"

It looks like hostwatch is actually not to blame for the initial issue, and that was just straight up the disk filling over history. There may be a slight chance of hostwatch being to blame here as I did start it myself for a while before this window. So, it could have brought the disk utilization up somewhat that then finally got tripped over during the upgrade attempt.
