This testimony goes a long way to explain why Mastodon is more secure by default than centralized social networks:
1) Even if one server gets pwned, the whole network doesn't get pwned.
2) Any data sitting in a database is a liability, just waiting for someone to come along and crack it. So Mastodon doesn't collect excessive personal data in the first place: EXIF data is stripped from photos, your location isn't tracked, it doesn't ask you for your real name, etc.
Remember folks, if you abandon Twitter, Facebook or Google, it's not a boycott, it's a STRIKE.
Because you're the [unpaid] workers that earn them billions of dollars in capital.
When you don't post, they don't get the benefit of your labour. And when you don't use, they lose money.
Social Media STRIKE days should be a thing.
