Computer engineering student and budding UNIX enthusiast. My inspiration far outpaces my skills. There is no treasure more precious to me than truth.

i've come to a few conclusions after watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuNB4ocZDXA

I think #linuxmobile as it currently stands, is doomed to fail. Barring an unforseen miracle, it will never be feasable to develop an open and secure platform using non-open, insecure mobile chipsets.

I think we need to change course. We can't compete against modern smartphones, so let's stop trying to. Let's make something of our own, even if it will never have the same level of complexity. we need a foundation

FPGA based mobile phone: Creating a truly open and trustable mobile communications device

I'm curious why #Linuxmobile has had such a difficult time getting, off the ground. There's progress, sure, but it often feels like there are more projects failing than there are starting. #pinephone pro comes to mind.

in the mean time, I've decided to separate my mobile computing into two devices instead of one single smartphone. A dumbphone for calls and texts, and a linux PDA for everything else.

Google making Android closed source, and the future of android roms like #grapheneos are in uncertainty. I sure hope projects like #mechacomet succeed. I'm starting to feel like a cornered animal.
I really liked @Luigi311 's review of the #FLX1 phone. Hoping he'll consider also reviewing the #mechaComet

I know it's the mode to hate on and fear AI, but I really think it would be a great thing if only it weren't for the people who currently own most of AI.

as it stands, I'm not likely to ever use it, at least until an open source AI emerges. Apparently, that's going to be sooner than I thought.

“We Have No Moat”: Open Source AI's Breakneck Innovation

Open source AI is accelerating, rapidly matching proprietary models. As innovation moves up the stack, the real value lies in security, usability, and experience.

Although some vocal minorities condemn it, I really think homeless charities should focus their efforts around helping the homeless to get jobs if they have none. Being jobless or otherwise unable to support one's self is really bad for mental health. Not saying there should be no shelters or soup kitchens, just that there should be an end goal for self-sufficiency.

Doing things this way is harder for both parties than just supplying immediate need, but I believe it needs to be done.

Hot take alert: the only dependency manager your code should use is copy-paste.
1. If you don't, someone else will.
2. You can't trust someone else.
3. If no one else will, you must.
I've decided that decidual mountain trails are overrated. Too many trees, can't see anything. The arid foothills of the Wasatch front are where it's at.
