‼️ This is sadly very important ‼️

Please share and be aware of that – in the worst case – you will NO LONGER be able to install apps from individuals/organizations like @fdroidorg f-droid if they are not an Google-approved publisher/developer!

Also sign the petition: https://www.change.org/p/stop-google-from-limiting-apk-file-usage

‼️ This could already happen this year in Sept. 2026 ‼️

@stripey Try doing it audibly (maybe when nobody is around—up to you), and really tear into that MFer. Just get it all out. These are natural emotions that probably shouldn't be suppressed.

@debacle @delta I'm sure it's similar. In Signal, a participant in a chat can set the time limit before messages disappear. Another participant can change the limit, in the same chat, and changes apply to messages going forward from the change.

Like you said, client support is lacking. We used Conversations as a client, which doesn't currently have XEP-0466 support.

@delta I got the gist of Delta Chat, and want to look further into it when time allows. I once set up an in-house #XMPP server (Prosody) for family use, and it worked pretty well. Especially for voice calling.

We fell back to Signal though, because some family don't really have secure endpoint devices, and Signal is good at time-limiting messages in chats.

@csolisr @inthehands An external system or method would need to enforce that only some fields can be changed (Description) while others can't (start date or location, for example). At that point, every participant would need this system to govern their calendars.

Then we have an issue with end-user adoption via compliant apps. Take vJournal, for example. An extension to CalDAV. The number of clients that support it is miserably small. Nobody has even heard of it.

@inthehands It seems like only a complicated, proprietary calendaring app could support this by running amok of existing IEEE standards, such as CalDAV.

It's really down to having the event description be non-personal ("Coffee"), or exporting/sharing an event via ics file, so that each party has their own version, and can edit it independently.

There’s a bit of irony that you have to confirm you’re 18 to see the Epstein files.

So basically, the police chief fabricated charges to raid and seize everything from the local newspaper. Rights were violated and the elderly co-owner of the newspaper died of a heart attack after arguing with the police who were destroying her life. All because of a tyrant cop with nothing better to do but abuse his power.

Everyone hops on board with the police chief: a sheriff, multiple county attorneys, and a judge.

The fucking audacity.
