Last week I had the pleasure of visiting the Spanish R community at their annual conference and gave one of the keynotes. My slides for "What's new with tidymodels?" are at: https://hfrick.github.io/2024-3RqueR/ #RStats
2024-3RqueR – What’s new with tidymodels?

A new version of dials, v1.3.0 is on CRAN. This includes additional space-filling designs as well as one function to rule them all, `grid_space_filling()`. The previous functions for space-filling designs, `grid_latin_hypercube()` and `grid_max_entropy()`, have been deprecated. #RStats

Tools for Creating Tuning Parameter Values

Many models contain tuning parameters (i.e. parameters that cannot be directly estimated from the data). These tools can be used to define objects for creating, simulating, or validating values for such parameters.

En route to ManchesterR to see talks by @nrennie on Faster R Code with Rust and Daniel Durling on survival analysis with censored/tidymodels! 🥳 Find me for a censored sticker! #RStats

Registration for tutorials at useR! in Salzburg is open! I'll be teaching an in-person tutorial on Survival Analysis with tidymodels with @topepo .To register for the tutorial, log back into your conference registration and then modify it to include tutorials (and maybe a social event!) in Step 4 "Reg Options." It's a bit of clicking to get there, but the choice of tutorials and social activities is worth it! #RStats #useR2024

A key component of the new tidymodels functionality for survival analysis are the new metrics. This post walks you through the Brier score and area under the ROC curve, as adapted for predictions of survival probability! #RStats

tidymodels - Dynamic Performance Metrics for Event Time Data

Let’s discuss how to compute modern performance metrics for time-to-event models.

SatRday London is coming up! Next week Saturday (🥁 ), April 27, at King's College organised by @jumpingrivers I'll be talking about survival analysis with tidymodels. Come join us for a day of R-related talks, tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/satrdays-london-2024-registration-758588196717 #RStats

We've released support for survival analysis in tidymodels. This methodology is useful for all kinds of time-to-event data: That event may be a customer churning, a machine needing repairs or replacement, a shelter animal being adopted, etc.

For a new case study on tidymodels.org, that event is a complaint to the NYC Departments of Buildings being dispositioned. The analysis shows how to use tidymodels for censored regression, covering the whole process. #RStats
