I think the theory that's closest to becoming true is the Anti-Catharsis Theory.

One of the things the game is about is escape from reality and I feel like it's going in the direction of "abandon the dark world and have your own life with your real friends" since chapter 2, this feels even stronger with the ending of chapter 5.

So the ending would have to be bittersweet in some way with no control over destiny.

And in comparison the weird route will be a thing where you (player) can forcibly take control of the narrative, but will still result in the same ending in some way.

The arguable part which becomes speculation is what this "in some way" is supposed to be. I don't think it will work out like the author thinks.

Is the flute used in Thousand Cafe Zukan a synthetic version of a Chinese dizi flute? It does not sound like a Japanese shakuhachi to me.
