#DearLazyWeb: this is a bit of an unusual request, but I'm trying to find more information on the technical logistics of resistance tunnel building, from Vietnam, to Syria, to Gaza. There have been a bunch of videos on tunnel warfare, and including a lot of info about the US preparing for tunnel war.

I've been #writing some near-future #fiction and I'd like to include some of this, and I like to have depth of knowledge for realism.

So any military history geeks out there have any leads?

“software can’t just ignore laws it doesn’t like” it literally can. corporations do it constantly and I really doubt any of them will drop linux if it doesn’t comply with a set of godawful fascist age verification laws. historically one of the forms of pushback against unjust laws is to show some basic fucking solidarity and do nothing to assist in their enforcement because it really isn’t practical to sue everybody, but unfortunately solidarity is alien to most of these computer fuckers

"The death of a program happens when the programmer team possessing its theory is dissolved. A dead program may continue to be used for execution in a computer and to produce useful results. The actual state of death becomes visible when demands for modifications of the program cannot be intelligently answered."

I feel like this essay should be taught alongside Twitter as a case study.

"class traitor technologies" is a useful concept to install into your worldview: anything that invites you to think of yourself as a little dauphin, a temporary aristocrat reclining on a chaise of screaming human bones, languorous finger directing some new marvel of labor, anything that discourages you from thinking of that labor as the product of other humans' hands and minds, product of a real place with soil and air and human community. technology to invisibilize & obliterate all that.

I do not like the new surreal fascism. It's not cute. It's not ironic. I thought part of the whole appeal of authoritarianism was the consistency, the lack of complexity, the comfort of a world brutally sorted into little metal boxes.

But, you're not going to get any of that with these guys.

I guess the fear is still there. "The Pope is Weak on Crime" no one knows what this means, but also everyone gets it.

I've written about this before and I will probably do it again. but I don't know what else to do but repeat myself when allegedly serious, internationally-renowned academic experts and influential public intellectuals are just going out there and saying stuff that would get you laughed out of a late night freshman dorm room conversation about philosophy
